Vaccine Information
Shingles (Herpes Zoster) is a painful, blistering rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus. As we age or our immune systems weaken, the virus can wake up, causing severe nerve pain. This vaccine offers over 90% efficacy in preventing shingles, proven to maintain strong immunity for at least 10 years. Significantly reduces the risk of Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN), severe and long-term nerve pain.
Preparation
two-dose series should be administered 2 to 6 months apart
Eligibility
Adults aged 50 years and older | Adults aged 18 years and older with weakened immune systems or who are at a higher risk of infection due to disease or medical treatment (e.g., cancer patients, individuals with HIV, patients with autoimmune diseases, etc.) | Patients who have previously had shingles (herpes zoster), or those who have received the older live-attenuated shingles vaccine (such as Zostavax) | Individuals with a past history of chickenpox (varicella) | Adults with chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or heart disease
